Down by the Mall

I remember the days,  actually quite a while ago, when my kidlet and I would go to our favorite mall for the purpose of…….*shopping*.   It was nice to spend some quality time together,  we both worked full-time,  but there was always time for “goin’ to the Mall”.     I enjoyed the aimless meandering around looking at *stuff*  —- maybe even drooling just a little gazing at the display of  “Coach”  brand handbags thru the store window, or  the heady joy of scrabbling thru the *SALE* racks at my favorite department store and finding…………..Oh Joy!  Oh Bliss!   Laura Ashley™  slacks.   On sale.  At about half the original price!!  I bought a pair.  Dark brown.   I never owned a pair of dark brown slacks before, I don’t even like brown slacks,  but these were Laura Ashley’s  slacks!

Shopping with Kathie [aka Kitty]  is not an easy job. She is usually in her own little world in the stores and drifts thru the departments like a gentle (but slow) breeze. Time is meaningless to her, whether she is fondling a soft sweater or flipping thru a rack of  CDs. Everything that can, and is, sold by a merchant in the mall gets her undivided attention, whether she wants the item or not. All this looking, fondling, touching, picking up and intently scrutinizing everything takes an inordinate amount of time.   But finally,  the Grand Finale…….Barnes & Noble.    Magazine section.   Read a couple items to decide whether or not to buy.  Finish our cuppa coffee and finally!  Home.

I don’t go shopping with her anymore.
